Last updated: 1 September 2026. This policy was drafted for the rebuilt site and should be reviewed by the society before launch.
Who we are
The International Society of Groundwater for Sustainable Development (ISGSD), Teknikringen 10B, SE-100 44 Stockholm, Sweden. For any question about this policy, or to exercise the rights described below, write to info@isgsd.org.
What we collect, and why
- Contact form. Your name, email address, organisation, country and message. We use them to answer you, and we keep the message so we can pick up the thread later.
- Newsletter. Your email address, and your name if you give it. We only add you to the list after you confirm by clicking a link we email you, and every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe.
- Membership applications. Your name, email address, organisation, position, country, research interests and chapter preference. The Executive Secretary uses them to assess the application and to administer your membership. If you tick the directory box, your name, organisation and country — nothing else — appear in the public member directory. You can untick that at any time.
- Donations. Your name, email address, organisation, the amount you pledge and what you would like it to support. We email you the society’s bank transfer details. No card or bank account numbers are ever requested or stored by this website.
- Server logs. Our host records the IP address of requests as part of normal operation. We store the IP address alongside form submissions for a limited period, to deal with spam and abuse.
Cookies
This site sets a cookie only when you sign in, and stores a small dismissal flag in your browser when you close the announcement bar. We do not run advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
Who else sees your data
Nobody, except the service providers we depend on to run the site: our web host, and the mail service that delivers our email. We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
Form submissions are kept for as long as they are useful for correspondence and then deleted. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Membership records are kept for as long as you are a member, and for a reasonable period afterwards for the society’s accounts.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our processing it. Email info@isgsd.org and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to your national data protection authority; in Sweden this is the Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).
